Hattvika Lodge Ballstad Lofoten

Hattvika Lodge is located on the small island of Ballstad. The lodge consists of newly renovated fishermen`s cottages "rorbuer" some of them dating back to the 1880s. Hattvika Lodge has been beautifully designed and creates the perfect combination between retaining the old traditional style in addition to luxurious, modern and comfortable interior. 

• LOCATION  

In Ballstad in the middle of the Lofoten Islands. A perfect location to have as a base for exploring Lofoten. Ballstad is a small island connected to the mainland Vestvagøy.

• CHARME AND STYLE 

I met Guri the co-owner, she is the 6th generation landlord of Ballstad and is born and raised here. After 20 years in Oslo she returned to Ballstad to build Hattvika Lodge. She is very service minded and I was treated as a guest not a resident. 

• ROOMS

Beautifully designed. They are all different. 

This room with the bunk-beds, was the room I had booked.

But I was upgraded when the owner met me, to this very spacious room for one. The room reminded me to come back in winter.

• SERVICE AND FACILITIES

In adition to enjoy the area by yourself, Hattvika Lodge provides the opportunity to enjoy a number of outdoor activities with the guide that has the knowledge and experience to take you hiking, fishing, kayaking, SUP and in the wintertime, skiing. 

At the pier of Hattvika Lodge you find the one and only Møller´s Tran cod liver tasting depot. 

After swimming in the cold water or after the a hot tub experience, the most beautiful modern sauna waits for you with amazing view of the village of Ballstad. 

• FOOD AND DRINKS

Dining is based on self-catering. There are good places to eat in Ballstad. I was recommended to have dinner at Himmel and Havn just opposite the bay from Hattvika Lodge and that restaurant was amazing.
