The small hotel is a result of good taste, an eye for good design and careful renovation of an ancient rural house dating back to the 18th century. Original and modern elements go hand in hand making this small hotel a gem in the heart of Valpolicella. The couple that´s running Corte Formigar has a mission of giving the guests a possibility to live like the owners do to really experience the good life of Valpolicella.
LOCATION
Corte Formigar is located in the village of Sant´Ambrogio di Valpolicella at the foot of the Vaio dell´Amaron in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica. The location is halfway between Verona and Lake Garda. The hilly position of the site give a stunning panorama of Valpolicella. Corte Formigar is in its own garden overlocking vineyards and its in walking distance from the small village of Sant´Ambrogio.
CHARME & STYLE
Corte Formigar has managed to maintain the originality of the old farm house combined with modern design. Wood, iron, terracotta and stone, new and old materials are beautifully mixed. Wood and iron are also used to make unique furniture, beds and lamps. Every detail is taken care of and the owners have managed to maintain a familiar and welcoming atmosphere. Jessica the owner who is running the hotel is very helpful. Corte Formigar has six rooms, one being a family room. All the rooms have their unique design.
ROOMS
The guest rooms are light and airy, comfortable and nicely decorated. Again there is a mix of old traditional materials and details combined with modern. The rooms offer flat-panel television, complimentary toiletry kits, safes and minibars.
SERVICE & FACILITIES
Bike rental, both traditional bikes and E-bikes are available. Corte Formigar offers wine tasting on the premises in the small private cellar, but this must be planned in advance. Otherwise wine-tastings and transportation to affiliated cellars can be arranged. The hotel is selling a small selection of local products.
FOOD & DRINKS
The complimentary breakfast is served in a buffet style offering eggs made to order, fresh fruit, homemade cakes and local products.
Corte Formigar is perfect if you are looking for good value for money in this friendly and peaceful corner of Italy in the heart of Valpolicella. I could have stayed longer and I would definitely stay here again.
