The colorful shoulder bags, have become incredibly popular, each one is unique and you can see the women crocheting the bags in the streets of the old walled city. Ponchos and colorful hammocks are also sold everywhere. The Colombian version of the classic Panama hat and of course the Panama hat, custom painted or plain, is a must.
EMERALDS & COFFEE
Emeralds are one of the country´s most important international products, producing eighty percent of the world's supply of the beautiful green precious stone. A high quality Colombian emerald is not cheap but you can buy good quality small emeralds for less.
If you are not into handicrafts or emeralds buy coffee. Colombia is one of the world's major producers of high quality coffee.
