Why you should visit Burano on your trip to Venice
The Venice area without tourists If that suits you, Burano is the place! Get off the mainland and explore this small island in the Venetian Lagoon. Burano is known for it´s colorful houses, from bright pink to lemon yellow, from bright blue to green, every single house in Burano is painted in the colors of the rainbow and because of this it is the prettiest little town I have ever seen.
Burano can be visited on day trips from Venice, but for a place to spend the night away from the Venice-crowds at night, this tiny island is perfect. Do the opposite of all the rest that spend the day here, spend a colorful night.
Burano has in all times been home to fishermen and farmers. The ladies of Burano are known for making the most beautiful lace in the world and the island is well known for it`s lace tradition dating back to the 17th century.
Legend has it that the houses of Burano were painted in bright colors to help fishermen navigate through thick winter fog.
Until recently travelers could only spend the day in Burano because it did not offer any accommodations, now there are a few places to spend the night, book early to be able to do the opposite of staying in Venice experience.
