Sadly the combination of popular tourist attractions and eateries often affects the quality of the service, the food and the charm, but Brasserie Posten proved this to be wrong.

Brasserie Posten is a well-known restaurant in Geiranger, Norway. Located near the Geirangerfjord, it offers stunning views along with a menu that emphasizes local and seasonal ingredients. Brasserie Posten is a high quality concept in all aspects and I loved it. Both thumbs up, this is the place to eat if you are hungry visiting the jewel in the crown of the Norwegian fjords - the Geirangerfjord. Brasserie Posten is located in the old post office, right on the pier, next to the fjord in the heart of the beautiful village Geiranger.

The Geirangerfjord area is home to spectacular scenery with deep blue fjords, waterfalls and sharp snow topped mountains that tower high above the fjord. For more about Geiranger, click HERE

Less than 300 people live in Geiranger all year round, but the population increases significantly during the summer season. is one of the 230 residents that live in Geiranger year-round. The restaurant serves high quality food made from scratch. The menu has a great range of options, something for everybody and the menu changes with the season. On one of the signature dishes, Geirangerfjøl, you will find local specialities like ham and cheese, fish and seafood are local and for dessert Brasserie Posten serves local berries from the villages Norddal and Valldal in season.

All the ingredients as locally sourced, from the beef to the fish, to the cheese to the berries for the desserts. The restaurant has a wide selection of local beer. The Brewery traditions in the fjords of Norway have always been strong. Mostly, beer was brewed twice a year - a strong beer for Christmas and a lighter for the haymaking season in summer. Now there are so many options all year and at Brasserie Posten restaurant in Geiranger you can try the local brew from Geiranger Bryggeri.

How are the prices for food in Geiranger? Prices at Brasserie Posten are fair for Norwegian standards with starters, small dishes starting from 249,- pizza from 238,-, burgers 275, and mains from 375,- kr. The price for most desserts are 195,-kr.

Does the restaurant have gluten-free options? Yes Brasserie Posten restaurant has both gluten free alternatives and vegetarian options. On the meny for kids, you find pizza, burger and toast but in addition all dishes on the main menu can be saved in smaller portions for kids with 50% discount.

Visiting in Winter I sat inside, but in summer there is a terrace to dine at with wonderful view of the Geirangerfjord.
