Keukenhof Lisse

Keukenhof

Tulips is one of the things you´re going to expect to see in Amsterdam. You will always find tulips! Most of the year they are fresh but if you are visiting out of season you will find imported tulips and tulips in ceramic and slik.

If you visit Amsterdam between mid March and end April, it´s a must to go for a day trip to the Keukenhof in Lisse, the world´s largest and most colorful tulip and flower garden. Keukenhof is candy for the eye! The park was established in 1949 and was created in order to show off tulips from all over Europe.

Each year the park is redesigned, it takes a lot of planning because 7 million flower bulbs are planted each fall to ensure this spectacular display of color the coming spring. During the 8 week spring season that the park is open, Keukenhof hosts about 1 million visitors from more than 100 countries.

I went from Norway to Keukenhof on a day trip to see the beauty with my very own eyes and it was so worth it! It is really unbelievably beautiful.

To me the fields of tulips and hyacinths outside the Keukenhof park, in the flower village Lisse, were even more impressive. There are flowers as far as the eye can see, Keukenhof is eye candy but the area around the park is even more amazing. Go for a long walk with your camera, rent a bike to se more, bring some food and a bottle of wine and have a picnic in beautiful surroundings.

After a day in Kaukenhof and the area around the park, you will have full memory card and more photos than you know what to do with.

I was so inspired of all the beauty I had seen in one day that I spent a fortune on flower bulbs hoping that my garden in Norway will be a little more colorful this spring and remind me of the beautiful day I had in Keukenhof. It´s definitely a place to go to!
